EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- As expected, NT Sione Po'uha (back) was declared inactive for Sunday's season opener against the Bills. Kenrick Ellis will start at nose tackle.

No surprises among the Jets' inactives: QB Greg McElroy, WR Clyde Gates, S Eric Smith, DT Damon Harrison, G Caleb Schlauderaff and T Dennis Landolt.

Analysis: The Jets are light in the trenches, as they dressed only seven offensive linemen and five defensive linemen. With Schlauderaff down, it means that LG Matt Slauson is the backup center. Defensively, they went light on thei big fellas because they expect it to be more of a basketball game than a boxing match. Of course, we're referring to the Bills' spread offense ... WR Chaz Schilens, injured virtually the entire preseason, is active. That means five receivers are up for the game ... Nine linebackers are active.

For the Bills, the news is that WR Stevie Johnson, who missed some practice time with a groin injury, is active. That's not a surprise.

The Bills' other inactives: QB Tarvaris Jackson, WR T.J. Graham, S Delano Howell, DE Kyle Moore, LB Kirk Morrison, T Sam Young and C Colin Brown.
