FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- It doesn't get any easier for the Jets, who host the Texans (4-0) Monday night. A quick look at the Texans:
1. We could throw out a bunch of impressive numbers, but we'll limit it to a few. The Texans, off to the best start in franchise history, have a league-best point differential -- plus-70. They haven't squandered a lead and they've trailed for only 18 minutes, 52 seconds out of 240 minutes.
2. The Texans' defense, headed by coordinator Wade Phillips, is ranked No. 1 in the league. Their pass defense is terrific. In fact, they've allowed only 6.0 yards per pass attempt, tied for best in the league. Their top player is DE J.J. Watt, whom Rex Ryan believes is the early frontrunner for NFL Defensive Player of the Year. He leads the league with 7.5 sacks, including 6.5 in pass rushes of four or fewer players, per ESPN Stats & Information. That means he can get to the quarterback without the assistance of blitzes.
3. Statistically, the Texans are the most run-heavy offense in the league. Arian Foster leads the way with 380 yards and five TDs, thriving in a zone-blocking scheme. They use the outside stretch play, which could pose problems for the Jets' beleaguered run defense. QB Matt Schaub, who has won eight straight starts (dating to last season), relies heavily on play-action. They'll run, run, run, and then he'll go over the top to WR Andre Johnson off play-action. He also has a dangerous weapon in TE Owen Daniels. The knock against Schaub is that he doesn't handle pressure well.
4. Here's something for the Jets: They're 5-0 all-time against the Texans. The Rex Ryan era opened in 2009 with a win in Houston.
