FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Jets backup quarterback Tim Tebow said he is not frustrated with his role in the Jets' offense and has not talked to anyone about his lack of involvement. ESPN's Ed Werder said Tuesday that Tebow is frustrated with his lack of usage and believes the Jets haven't honored promises they made upon acquiring him.

"I mean, yeah, you get frustrated when you lose football games. I think everyone in the locker room when you lose games you're a little frustrated, but I think that's natural," Tebow said. "Other than that, just trying to work hard, get better and we're 2-2. The season's not over yet and we got a big game this week, Monday night, and we just need to get a little bit better and be prepared and go out there and execute and put together a great plan."

There was much talk when the Jets acquired Tebow about the offensive packages he could be used in, most notably the wildcat. But Tebow has rarely been used through the first quarter of the season. He's rushed just nine times for 38 yards and has thrown one pass for nine yards. His best play this season arguably was his run for a first down on a fake punt during the Jets' win over Miami.

Tebow has played just 32 snaps so far, only 15 of which have come as the quarterback.

"I'm just ready and anxious for when my number's called to just try to help this team," Tebow said. "The same attitude I've had the whole time and when my number's called, just want to have competitive excellence to help these guys."

Rex Ryan said Wednesday he doesn't sense any frustration from the quarterback about his role, and Tebow said all the right things on Wednesday to try and dispel any notion that he's not pleased with his playing time. He said the Jets didn't tell him anything specifically about his role when he was acquired, and talked about wanting to perform every role he's given to the fullest extent. He's been used on both offense and special teams, and Jets special teams coach Mike Westhoff praised Tebow earlier this year.

"I just want to come out here and have a great week of practice and execute when they ask me in practice, and when I get opportunities in the game, just try to do a good job," Tebow said. "Whatever my role is, do it to the best of my ability."

During Sunday's game, the fans chanted for Tebow as quarterback Mark Sanchez faltered. Tebow said he tries not to pay attention to it and focuses on wanting to help the team win, as well as encouraging Sanchez. Tebow understands the rough times Sanchez has faced that have led to questions about his job security.

"I think one thing is as a quarterback, it's never as good as it seems when everything is going well and it's never as bad as it seems when everything's going bad," Tebow said. "I always think it's somewhere right there in the middle and I think that's something we just have to keep in perspective and everyone has to do a better job on this team to win football games, especially like last Sunday, the blame doesn't fall on one person."
