Is this strange to you?
Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis will have ACL surgery on Tuesday. The Giants' team physician, Dr. Russell Warren, will perform the surgery.
For Giants fans who despise the Jets, this may be an issue.
But it certainly doesn't bother Giants coach Tom Coughlin.
"I don’t think it’s odd at all," the coach said. "I did not know about this nor would I spend a lot of time thinking about it. Dr. Warren is (who) we’ve always considered the best in the business and we feel like we have the best medical people in the world. For someone to make a decision that they would like Dr. Warren to perform their surgery, that doesn’t surprise me."
GIANTS ON SKINS: Coughlin was asked if he feared his team would suffer a letdown on Sunday after its big win over San Francisco.
A let down? Not with Washington, an NFC East foe, in town.
"I don’t know how (there could be a let-down)," Coughlin said. "We lost twice last year to Washington. Washington just came off a huge win and it’s in the division. We need to get going in the division. I would hope that it just does something to whet our appetite, and want to continue to play in that vein and to make more progress."
The Giants are 0-2 in the division and will face the Redskins and impressive rookie Robert Griffin III on Sunday. Griffin III ran for 138 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's win over Minnesota, including a 76-yard touchdown run to put the game away.
Coughlin said he hadn't started to prepare for the Redskins. But he didn't think the team had any extra motivation in going against Griffin III.
"I’m sure we’re going to be very much aware of the talented player that he is. I don’t know how you get much more excited when you’re playing in the division. That’s the key for me," the coach said.
Michael Boley said the Giants would turn the page on the San Francisco win 'quickly' and begin focusing on the 'Skins.
"We know that at this point, we’re behind in the division, so with the big division game coming up this week, it’s kind of key for us to kind of put that behind us," he said.
Boley admitted that the Giants (4-2) need to improve their consistency as the season moves along -- and Sunday provides a great opportunity to do so.
"It has been uneven. (But) for us, it’s all about how we ended last year," Boley said. "Not to bring that up, but pretty much just find what works for us, find that niche, whatever we did one week, do everything we can throughout the week to carry that over."
