The Jets created two roster spots Tuesday, waiving RB Jonathan Grimes and releasing DT Daniel Muir.

It means the Jets are optimistic that RB Bilal Powell (dislocated shoulder) and NT Kenrick Ellis (sprained knee) will be ready to play when they return from the bye week, Nov. 11 against the Seahawks.

Grimes likely will go to the practice squad if he clears waivers. The Jets signed him five weeks ago from the Texans' practice squad. He played in two games (a total of 11 offensive snaps), rushing twice for six yards and catching two passes.

Muir played in three games (41 defensive snaps), recording three tackles.

The Jets also released OT Dennis Landolt from the practice squad.
