Mark Sanchez, in his weekly appearance with Michael Kay on 1050 ESPN Radio New York, said the New York Jets will be leaning on Rex Ryan to make sure the Braylon Edwards arrest doesn't become a distraction.
"I don't think guys will dwell on anything like this or let it affect their preparation," Sanchez said. "I don't think Braylon will, either. He's going to want to move on as quickly as possible. We'll address it as a team. I'm sure Rex will have the right message like he always does for us, and we'll be able to get on with our week. It's important to not let it serve as a distraction. We'll let it serve as a good lesson, we'll block it out and get ready for another game."
Sanchez, like Edwards and other players, attended Jerricho Cotchery's fundraiser in Manhattan. Sanchez said he bumped into Edwards, but, "I didn't spend too much time with him. I wasn't out with him (Monday) night. I can't speak to any details on that."
Sanchez said he sent Edwards a text Tuesday, offering help if he needed it.
