FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- The Jets still are feeling the effects of last Sunday's beat-down by the Chargers.
DE Muhammad Wilkerson didn't practice Wednesday after suffering a concussion and an unspecified knee injury in the 27-17 loss. QB Greg McElroy showed up on the practice report with an abdominal injury, he practiced fully and will start Sunday against the Bills. That McElroy was able to get out of bed and walk was a minor miracle, considering he was sacked 11 times.
Wilkerson's concussion is curious because he played every defensive snap in the game. Rex Ryan said he didn't find out about it until Tuesday. After Ryan's news conference, the Jets attempted to clarify the situation. A team spokesman said Wilkerson sustained the concussion late in the game and didn't show symptoms until after the game.
Of course, Wilkerson will have to adhere to NFL concussion protocol before he's cleared to practice. He jogged on the side during practice, along with DB Ellis Lankster.
Also on the injury front, TE Dustin Keller (ankle), WR Chaz Schilens (knee), DB Aaron Berry (hamstring) and S LaRon Landry (heel, hamstring) weren't expected to practice. Landry's hamstring injury is new.
