With the season in the books, let's take a look at the snap counts for the various units. We'll start with defensive line and linebackers (percentages are based on a total of 1,072 defensive snaps, per the official NFL game books):
Muhammad Wilkerson -- 895 snaps/83 percent
Mike DeVito -- 630 snaps/59 percent
Quinton Coples -- 505 snaps/47 percent
Sione Pouha -- 305 snaps/29 percent
Kenrick Ellis -- 235 snaps/22 percent
Marcus Dixon -- 57 snaps/5 percent
Daniel Muir -- 43 snaps/4 percent
Damon Harrison -- 22 snaps/2 percent
David Harris -- 1,067 snaps/99.5 percent
Calvin Pace -- 1,010 snaps/94 percent
Bart Scott -- 578 snaps/53 percent
Garrett McIntyre -- 408 snaps/38 percent
Bryan Thomas -- 358 snaps/33 percent
DeMario Davis -- 309 snaps/29 percent
Aaron Maybin -- 119 snaps/11 percent
Josh Mauga -- 50 snaps/5 percent
Ricky Sapp -- 34 snaps/3 percent
Analysis: It was impressive showing for Wilkerson, who seemed indestructible. His versatility -- the ability to play three different positions on the line -- allowed him to stay on the field longer ... Po'uha gutted it out with a back injury. They also played a lot of spread offenses, minimizing the nose-tackle position.
Harris and Pace were every-down linebackers, a credit to their versatility. Perhaps Pace would've been more effective as a pass rusher if he had a chance to rest on first and second down. Harris may have been stretched beyond his limit, as he doesn't have the coverage skills to warrant being a full-time, three-down 'backer ... It was a surprisingly low snap count for Davis. The expectation was that he'd slide into Scott's role, but that never happened, even though Scott was playing on a bad toe ... Aaron, who?
