LaRon Landry wanted more Tim Tebow.

The Pro Bowl safety, who appeared as a guest Wednesday on ESPN's "First Take," said the Jets under-utilized the NFL's most famous backup quarterback last season. When they did put him in the game, the play calling was all too predictable, according to Landry, who called Tebow a winner and a competitor.

"I thought it was going to be a little bit more," Landry said of Tebow's role. "It came to a point where, 'OK, Tim is going into the game, it's going to be a power (run). ... I would've loved to have seen him throw the ball a little bit more, to mix it up a little bit more."

Landry also said, "When he came in the game, watch'ya all think? It was going to be a run, right? Yeah, every time."

Tebow appeared in only 75 offensive plays last season, in large part because coordinator Tony Sparano had no faith in him -- and because Sparano was too stubborn to adapt his offense to suit Tebow's skills.

For the most part, Landry, headed to free agency next month, stayed clear of any controversial remarks. But he admitted there was uncertainty at quarterback.

"Certain days I went into the office thinking, 'Man, who's going to be up? Which quarterback is going to be up? How are we going to prepare for this week?'" Landry said.

Landry didn't address his free agency in the interview, but he has said he'd like to return to the Jets. The chances of that happening are remote. They can't use the franchise tag on him, per a clause in the one-year contract he signed last March, and it's unlikely they'd be able to afford him.
