Rex Ryan, speaking Tuesday morning at the AFC coaches' breakfast at the NFL meetings in Phoenix, told reporters the Jets aren't actively trying to trade CB Darrelle Revis.
"I know for a fact that we're not actively trying to trade Darrelle Revis," Ryan said. "But if somebody calls, you listen."
Ryan insisted that any trade talk right now is "speculation," claiming it's not a foregone conclusion that Revis will be dealt. But he added, "I'm not naive."
The Bucs are interested in trading for Revis, and the two teams have talked, according to sources. The Bucs reportedly haven't ruled out including their first-round pick (13th overall) in a potential trade, a key development if true.
Jets owner Woody Johnson made it clear Sunday night that he's willing to move Revis if it improves the team. Sources say Ryan isn't in favor of trading Revis, but he told reporters, "I have nothing to do with trades. My job is to coach the football team."
