CORTLAND, N.Y. -- It's Dee Day.

The training-camp spotlight will be focused Monday on rookie CB Dee Milliner, who agreed to a four-year contract Sunday night. The Jets have big plans for their top pick, chosen ninth overall, but it'll fascinating to gauge his physical condition. Remember, Milliner never -- repeat, never -- has participated in a practice for the Jets. He sat out the offseason program, recovering from March shoulder surgery.

"I think we'll be able to get him up to speed quickly," defensive coordinator Dennis Thurman said Saturday, before a deal was imminent. "We're not sure what kind of shape he'll be in, but we think he's a smart young man."

Milliner is expected to be in camp for Monday's practice, the team's fourth. The Jets hit the field at 10 a.m.

Other storylines:

1. More Geno: Rookie QB Geno Smith is expected to work again with the starting unit, based on the quarterback rotation. Smith has impressed in the first three practices -- look, no interceptions -- although he has to do a better job of making pre-snap reads and recognizing blitzers.

2. A cup of Joe: With Joe McKnight, you never know what you're going to get. At the outset of camp, he failed the conditioning run because of dehydration, he said. On Sunday, he labored through practice, possibly because of a migraine. Running backs coach Anthony Lynn's patience is being tested. McKnight is no lock to make the team, so he'd better shape up.
