CORTLAND, N.Y. -- The spotlight will be on Joe McKnight, maybe the most talked about third-string running back in the NFL. After a day of health-related drama, McKnight's condition bears watching as he attempts to rejoin his teammates for practice at 10 a.m.
This will be one of those days where the conversation is dominated by injury talk. Aside from McKnight, the Jets have QB Geno Smith (ankle), CB Antonio Cromartie (elbow) and QB Greg McElroy (ankle) dealing with injuries. None of them are believed to be serious. Then again, you never know.
ICYMI: Monday was a busy day. McKnight's strange training camp turned scary, as he struggled to get to the practice field -- and didn't last long once he got there. To cap it off, he tweeted about it. ... Rex Ryan didn't take kindly to Geno Smith's former teammates at West Virginia questioning the leadership on last year's team. The criticism could be perceived as a not-so-veiled shot at the Jets' rookie. ... Chris Ivory finally made it through an entire practice -- and looked good. ... Holmes told reporters, "I can't run." Presumably, he meant at full speed, with cutting and running pass routes, because shortly before his media session, he was caught running at three-quarters speed on video by a fan in the stands.
