The current 53-man roster, as of Saturday night:

QUARTERBACK (4) — Geno Smith, Mark Sanchez, Matt Simms, Graham Harrell

Quick hit: Hardly an awe-inspiring group. If Smith isn't the real deal, the Jets are in trouble. Harrell is cheap insurance.

RUNNING BACK (4) — Chris Ivory, Bilal Powell, Kahlil Bell, Tommy Bohanon

Quick hit: Mike Goodson will join the group in Week 5. Until then, who's the third-down back? I guess it'll be Powell by default.

WIDE RECEIVER (5) — Santonio Holmes, Stephen Hill, Jeremy Kerley, Clyde Gates, Ryan Spadola

Quick hit: The Jets wouldn't carry only five, including a rookie free agent (Spadola), unless they feel confident Holmes will be ready for the opener. Either that, or they're planning to add a veteran.

TIGHT END (3) — Jeff Cumberland, Konrad Reuland, Kellen Winslow

Quick hit: This group combined for only 41 catches last season. Winslow is a nice story, though, making the team after walking on at minicamp.

OFFENSIVE LINE (9) — D'Brickashaw Ferguson, Vladimir Ducasse, Nick Mangold, Willie Colon, Austin Howard, Brian Winters, Caleb Schlauderaff, Will Campbell, Oday Aboushi.

Quick hit: Three rookies -- Winters, Campbell and Aboushi. The latter two made it because GM John Idzik wanted to preserve his draft. They don't have an experienced swing tackle on the bench.

DEFENSIVE LINE (5) — Muhammad Wilkerson, Kenrick Ellis, Damon Harrison, Sheldon Richardson, Leger Douzable

Quick hit: Kudos to Douzable, who played his way onto the roster. Depth is a concern, considering Ellis' back injury.

LINEBACKER (10) -- David Harris, Demario Davis, Calvin Pace, Quinton Coples, Garrett McIntyre, Antwan Barnes, Nick Bellore, Ricky Sapp, Danny Lansanah, Josh Mauga

Quick hit: A little surprised that Mauga made it. Great camps by Sapp and Lansanah. The feeling around the team is that it'll be a few weeks before we see Coples (ankle).

SECONDARY (10) -- Antonio Cromartie, Dee Milliner, Kyle Wilson, Antonio Allen, Jaiquawn Jarrett, Dawan Landry, Darrin Walls, Josh Bush, Ellis Lankster, Isaiah Trufant.

Quick hit: There's concern with Milliner (calf), who hasn't practiced in two weeks. Aside from Landry, the safety position is a concern.

SPECIALISTS (3) — Nick Folk, Robert Malone, Tanner Purdum

Quick hit: Same old, same old.
