Rookie RB Joe McKnight, he of the disappointing preseason, is active for Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns. This will be McKnight's second game in uniform. He's benefitting from the CB Marquice Cole (hamstring) injury.

Here are the Jets' inactives: Cole, LB Josh Mauga, OL Vladimir Ducasse, DT Jarron Gilbert, TE Matt Mulligan,TE Jeff Cumberland and DT Marcus Dixon. Kellen Clemens is the third QB.

Analysis: Aside from the McKnight/Cole switch, the other newsworthy item is Mulligan, who is inactive for the first time. This is primarily a special-teams move, as Mulligan has virtually no role at tight end. Also down is Mauga (hamstring), an injury-related decision ... Active this week are LB Jamaal Westerman (inactive the last five games) and DT Matt Kroul (inactive the last four games) ... Rookie CB Kyle Wilson is expected to start in the nickel, with Drew Coleman dropping to the dime ... Look for an increased role for DE Vernon Gholston. The Jets may try a run-stopping package that involves Gholston -- a 4-4 alignment.

The Browns' inactives: QB Jake Delhomme, WR Carlton Mitchell, OL Steve Vallos, DL Brian Sanford, TE Alex Smith, WR Demetrius Williams and DL Jayme Mitchell. Former Jet Brett Ratliff is the No. 3 QB.

As expected, rookie QB Colt McCoy will start for the Browns.
