CORTLAND, N.Y. -- Two weeks into training camp. Can you believe it?
Wednesday is a travel day for the New York Jets. They will have a closed walk-through practice in Cortland before traveling to New Jersey, about a 200-mile trip. On Thursday night, they open the preseason at MetLife Stadium, facing the Indianapolis Colts.
Traditionally, teams don't do a lot of prep work for the first preseason game, but Rex Ryan said he's looking forward to Andrew Luck & Co.
"As luck would have it ... " Ryan said, pausing at his corny pun, "we play a heck of a quarterback."
Even the jokes start to get stale after two weeks away from home.
"It's a great opportunity," Ryan said. "You're going against a team with a great quarterback, a marquee quarterback. That (T.Y.) Hilton guy is a stud receiver. They have some good receiving tight ends and they like to run the football. I think it’s going to be a good test for our defense and a good test for them, too."
