FORT WORTH, Texas -- Remember Jeremy Kapinos? He had a cup of coffee with the New York Jets at the end of the 2007 season, punting in Week 16 against the Tennessee Titans. He stuck around for a few more months, but was cut the following June.

Now he's punting for the AFC champion Pittsburgh Steelers. For those keeping track at home, that means former Jets punters have appeared in two of the last three Super Bowls -- Ben Graham (Arizona Cards) and Kapinos, who was picked up by the Steelers with four games left in the season.

On Thursday, Kapinos reflected on his brief time with the Jets. He loved playing for special teams coordinator Mike Westhoff, and got a kick out of watching Westhoff in his "starring" role in HBO's "Hard Knocks."

"People asked me about him, and I told them, 'That's Westhoff, he's not hamming it up for anyone,'" Kapinos said.

Kapinos' favorite Westhoff story: In training camp, Kapinos made a lousy punt. Westhoff threw his cane and screamed, "Who the f--- punted that?" Kapinos said he sheepishly raised his hand.

"It made me feel real little, but I understood his method," Kapinos said. "I appreciate it now."

I asked Kapinos about the Sal Alosi situation, and whether he was ever instructed while a Jet to form a wall on the sideline. He got quiet real fast.

"No comment," he said.
