On Tuesday morning, I asked my Twitter followers to vote for the biggest draft busts in Jets history. The idea was sparked, of course, by the team's decision to part ways with Vernon Gholston.
The response was outstanding (thanks), and now for the results. According to the fans, the winner (loser?) is ... Gholston, who edged Blair Thomas in a two-man runaway.
I used a point system to rank the players -- five points for a first-place vote, four for second, etc. Several folks didn't rank the players 1 to 5. In those cases, I had to use an average (three points per).
Anyway, here are the results:
Vernon Gholston -- 124 points
Blair Thomas -- 108
Johnny "Lam" Jones -- 56
Dewayne Robertson -- 34
Browning Nagle -- 31
Kyle Brady -- 26
Johnny Mitchell -- 22
Roger Vick -- 19
Ron Faurot -- 10
Ken O'Brien -- 8
Mike Nugent -- 5
Mike Haight -- 4
Anthony Becht, Russell Carter -- 3
Dave Cadigan, Alex Van Dyke -- 2
Reggie Rembert, Anthony Schlegel -- 1
