Despite a so-so pass rush, despite Darrelle Revis' early-season hamstring injury, despite the shuffling at safety and despite a non-descript season from CB Kyle Wilson (No. 1 pick), the Jets still fared well on pass defense in 2010 -- and yet there's a good chance they will use their first pick (30th overall) on a pass rusher.
What gives? There's a lot of truth to what ESPN analyst Trent Dilfer said the other day, claiming the Jets' defensive success is based on "smoke and mirrors." Rex Ryan, Mike Pettine and their staff do a fantastic job of scheming, putting the players in position to make plays. Remember, the Jets had only one Pro Bowl player on defense -- Revis.
