Rex says Brunell will be OK by opener

Backup QB Mark Brunell (pulled calf) was a no-show at the Tuesday morning walk-through, confirming that his injury is more than just a tweak. But it apparently isn't severe enough for the Jets to start checking out the QB market.

"We're not looking at another quarterback," Rex Ryan said. "We think Brunell will be fine (for the Sept. 11 opener)."

If, for some reason, Brunell isn't ready, rookie Greg McElroy would be the No. 2 QB, behind Mark Sanchez.

The Jets have a long list of injuries. We'll break them up into our own categories:

Full go: RG Brandon Moore (hip) is back to full practice and will start Saturday night against the Giants, making his pre-season debut.

Limited/monitored in practice: RB Shonn Greene (foot), WR Derrick Mason (knee), OLB Calvin Pace (groin), WR Courtney Smith (ankle), DE Marcus Dixon (knee), NT Sione Pouha (knee) and LB Bart Scott (leg).

New injuries: TE Jeff Cumberland (hamstring) was to be re-evaluated after individual drills in practice. Ditto, rookie LB Nick Bellore (calf).

ADIOS: The Jets made thre minor roster moves, waiving FB Brian Toal, OL Chris Duron and LS Wilson Raynor.

TURNER UPDATE: Backup OL Rob Turner, who underwent surgery last week to repair a broken leg, won't be put on season-ending injured reserve. But he will be sidelined "several weeks," according to Ryan. The Jets are scouring the waiver wire for offensive-line depth.

ODDS AND ENDS: One of the most improved players in camp is backup NT Martin Tevaseu -- aka MTV. In fact, he started at nose tackle for Pouha, getting the nod over third-round pick Kenrick Ellis. Ryan raved about Tevaseu ... The Jets took a trip to a local bowling alley and held an offense versus defense competition. The defense won by one pin. The reward: A night off for the defense, no meetings. The worst bowler was Tevaseu, who rolled an ugly 58. As part of the team bet, Tevaseu must attend a quarterbacks meeting. At 6-foot-2, 325 pounds, he might be the biggest guy ever to attend a QB meeting.
