Ryan: Wilkerson will start on Sunday night

Muhammad Wilkerson will start his first-ever NFL regular season game, Rex Ryan said after Friday's practice.

Wilkerson worked with the first-team defense on Friday, and will start at defensive end on Sunday night against Dallas.

The Jets are expecting big things for Wilkerson after they selected the Temple product in the first round of the 2011 NFL draft.

The 21-year-old appeared in all four preseason games with New York. He did not have a sack but managed to record seven tackles.

Ryan said Thursday that the Jets are going to rotate their defensive lineman, which means Wilkerson won't get 60-70 snaps.

"He reminds me of Shaun Ellis," Ryan said.
