To make room for CB Ellis Lankster, who was signed Tuesday to the 53-man roster, the Jets released rookie OLB Eddie Jones, according to a source. Jones made his NFL debut in Sunday's loss to the Patriots.

Also Tuesday, the Jets worked out former Dolphins FB Lousaka Polite, a source said. Polite, strictly a blocking back, was released Sept. 3 by the Dolphins.

Coincidentally (ha!), the Jets face the Dolphins Monday night at Met Life Stadium.

This was a classic Jets move, visiting with a player that has knowledge of the upcoming opponent.
