Taking advantage of their bye week, the Jets worked out several players Tuesday, according to a source. The group included:

• Former Eagles OLB Ricky Sapp, a fifth-round pick in 2010. UPDATE: Sapp tweeted Tuesday night that he has been signed to the Jets' practice squad.

• Former Bills TE Shawn Nelson, a fourth-round pick in '09 with 20 career receptions. The Jets face the Bills when they return from the bye.

• Former Bucs and Panthers WR/KR Dexter Jackson, a second-round pick of the Bucs in '08. Mostly recently, Jackson played with the Virginia Destroyers of the UFL. The Destroyers are coached by Marty Schottenheimer, father of Jets offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer.

The Jets have a roster opening after waiving C Colin Baxter.
