DENVER -- It was one of the wackiest plays in Jets history, G Matt Slauson throwing his 315 pounds on a loose ball in the end zone in the third quarter.
Slauson became the first Jets offensive lineman to score on a fumble recovery since G Randy Rasmussen did it in 1972. Rasmussen recovered a fumble by RB Cliff McClain in the end zone in the '72 home opener against the Dolphins.
Slauson's TD, off a fumble by rookie RB Bilal Powell, was huge because it gave the Jets a 10-3 lead -- and that looked to be plenty against an inept Denver offense, which didn't come to life until the final five minutes.
"It was incredible at the time," Slauson said. "I was super-excited, but it doesn't really mean anything because we lost."
