Bills WR Johnson mocks Jets with 'plane crash'

November, 27, 2011
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Bills wide receiver Stevie Johnson appeared to mock Jets receivers Plaxico Burress and Santonio Holmes after a touchdown catch at MetLife Stadium Sunday afternoon. After getting the ball, he pantomimed what looked like shooting himself in the leg, and followed that up by mimicking Holmes' flight-pattern move before finally crashing to the ground.

The touchdown gave the Bills a 14-7 lead. Johnson was flagged for illegal celebration.

Video replays of the celebration soon sprang up on the Internet.

In 2008, Burress accidentally shot himself in the thigh while at a Manhattan nightclub. He later spent a little more than two years in prison on an illegal weapons charge stemming from the incident. The Jets reached out to Burress while he was in jail and were one of several teams courting him this summer after the lockout ended. The shooting took place the day after Thanksgiving that year.
