Rewind: A look back at the 203rd pick

By Rich Cimini

The Jets own 10 picks in the upcoming draft, including four compensatory selections. We're reviewing the recent draft history for each slot. A rundown of the Jets' selections:

Round 1 -- 16th overall
Round 2 -- 47th
Round 3 -- 77th
Round 5 -- 154th
Round 6 -- 187th, 202nd (comp), 203rd (comp)
Round 7 -- 232nd, 242nd (comp), 244th (comp)

The 203rd pick: The Last 5 Years

2011: Zachary Williams, G, Panthers
2010: Scotty McGree, DB, Jaguars
2009: Jason McCourty, DB, Titans
2008: Andy Studebaker, LB, Eagles
2007: Daren Stone, DB, Falcons

Analysis: The success rate at this stage of the draft is about 50 percent. McCourty and Studebaker are the only two players among the last five still active in the league, with McCourty -- a former Rutgers standout -- developing into a productive starter with the Titans. Studebaker is with his second team, the Chiefs, where he has carved a niche as a reserve and special teamer. When you land a starter at the bottom of the sixth round, like the Titans, it usually indicates the confluence of several factors -- terrific scouting, a system fit and opportunity.
