The controversial linebacker "scares you a little bit" as a pro prospect because of his poor performance in the BCS championship and the subsequent fake-girlfriend scandal, according to Jets senior personnel executive Terry Bradway.
The Jets have little interest in Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o, according to a source.
Bradway, in a post-combine interview with the Jets' official web site, gave a candid assessment of the former Notre Dame star.
"It's an unusual situation, that's for sure," Bradway said. "I feel bad for him. I mean, the stress of the situation has to have had an impact on his training somehow. I think he's going to run faster at his pro day at the end of (March).
"He's a good football player," Bradway continued. "I know a lot of us gave him pretty good grades, but when you look at the Alabama game and you look at what's happened since, it just scares you a little bit. ... It has caused everybody to go back and re-watch and see what we have here. It's going to be interesting to see where he's drafted."
The Jets, picking ninth, won't draft Te'o, according to a source. Te'o, who ran a disappointing 40 (4.82) at the combine, is projected as a late first-round pick.
