COLUMBUS, Ohio -- North Carolina center Stephanie Mavunga is transferring to Ohio State, which leaves the Tar Heels without anyone from their four-player recruiting class that ranked No. 1 nationally in 2013.
Ohio State announced the move Saturday. The 6-foot-3 junior averaged 12.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game for North Carolina and earned All-ACC honors as a sophomore the previous season.
Mavunga will enroll at Ohio State in the fall and redshirt this season while fulfilling transfer requirements. She will have two seasons of eligibility remaining beginning in 2016-17. She joins Sierra Calhoun, who transferred to Ohio State this summer after playing 13 games at Duke as a freshman.
Ohio State lost to North Carolina in the second round of the NCAA tournament the past season.
