When you're arguably the best basketball player in the world, as Kobe Bryant is, it must take a lot to impress you.
Based on a few questions Bryant was asked last night in Boston about Jeremy Lin, the Lakers superstar wasn't even aware of the Lin-sanity, which he'll encounter tonight at the Garden. Or maybe he was just thinking, "He hasn't faced me yet."
From his responses, Bryant sounded like he really didn't know anything about Lin when he was approached with the topic after the Lakers nipped the Celtics by just one point, 88-87.
"What?" he said. "No idea. I know who he is, but I really don't know what's going on too much about him. I don't even know what he's done. I have no idea what you guys are talking about. I'll take a look at [the game film] tonight, though."
When pressed further, Bryant said, "I've heard about him and stuff like that, but what's the ... Is he getting triple-doubles and stuff?"
Then a reporter in the visiting locker room told Bryant what Lin was averaging in his last three games (25.3 points and 8.3 assists) after being buried on the bench. That's when he seemed a bit more interested.
"He's averaging 25 and eight?" he said. "Really?"
But Bryant isn't getting carried away with the notion that he'll have to guard Lin to limit his play. A little too soon for that thought, folks.
"Jesus Christ," Bryant said chuckling. "Let's not get ahead of ourselves."
