During the 2011 All-Star Weekend, only Amare Stoudemire and Landry Fields represented the Knicks; one in the All-Star Game and the other in the rookie-sophomore game, respectively.
This year, the Knicks will be fully stacked, featuring Carmelo Anthony (All-Star Game), Fields, Jeremy Lin and Iman Shumpert (rookie-sophomore game) and Shumpert (slam dunk contest).
Now add Fields and former Knick and current assistant GM Allan Houston to another event: the Haier Shooting Stars, the NBA announced on Friday. The contest, which challenges contestants to make shots in different locations in a set time, features one current NBA player (Fields), one TNT on-air talent/NBA legend and an WNBA player (the Libery's Cappie Pondexter) on each team. The New York team has never won it before.
The Haier Shooting Stars will be televised live nationally as part of NBA All-Star Saturday Night, which will also feature the Foot Locker Three-Point Contest, Sprite Slam Dunk and Taco Bell Skills Challenge. TNT and ESPN Radio’s national coverage will begin at 8 p.m. ET.
