With a 28-point afternoon on Sunday, ,Jeremy Lin entered rare territory.
According to the Elias Sports Bureau, only four players since the 1977-1978 NBA-ABA merger -- Bernard King, Shaquille O’Neal, Brandon Jennings and Michael Jordan -- have scored more points in their first eight career starts than Lin’s 200.
Our buddies at ESPN Stats & Info put together a great Lin roundup at TrueHoop.
They tell us that in the past eight games -- the first eight starts of his career -- Lin’s averaging 25.0 PPG and 9.5 APG. According to Elias, since the NBA began recording starts in 1970, Calvin Murphy for the 1970-71 San Diego Rockets is the only other player to average at least 10.0 PPG and 7.0 APG in the first eight starts of his career.
