A few days ago, I spoke with Brian Strong, Nike's North America Senior Communications Manager, to find out more about Jeremy Lin's deal with the global sportswear company.

Here are five fast facts:
  1. Lin has been a Nike athlete since he entered the NBA in 2010.
  2. Last summer, Lin, along with Amare Stoudemire, Kevin Durant, Rajon Rondo and Kyrie Irving, took part in his first Nike Basketball photo shoot in Las Vegas. He's also filmed several Nike Pro Skills videos, featuring on-court instruction.
  3. Also last summer, Lin hosted a two-city tour in Taiwan, which included a community program in Beidou Township, Taiwan, where his father, Gie-Ming, is from, and skills clinics for elite point guards in the area. Lin confirmed in a press conference last week that he will return to Taiwan this offseason to host the tour again.
  4. While he was in Taiwan, Lin was also involved in some retail initiatives at Nike's local Kicks Lounge, related to the launch of the Hyperfuse 2011 sneaker. That is what Lin is currently wearing. Last week, there was a leaked image of a Lin customized version of the Hyperfuse 2011 Russell Westbrook Player Edition, but Strong said that was fake. There are no announcements yet of any special shoe versions for Lin.
  5. Nike will be launching a T-shirt with the word "Linsanity" on the front very soon, which will be available online and in stores in the U.S.

On Lin's future with Nike this season, Strong said, "His recent success is certainly inspiring people at a bit of a different level at the moment, and we're going to continue to look for ways to celebrate that with Jeremy. That's where we are with things now."
