Who is Mike Woodson?

NEW YORK -- Mike Woodson will man the sideline tonight in his first game as interim head coach after Mike D'Antoni unexpectedly resigned Wednesday. Woodson started his career in New York when he was drafted 12th overall by the Knicks in the 1980 NBA draft.

• Born March 24, 1958, in Indianapolis and played at Broad Ripple High School.

• Two-time all-American at Indiana University under coach Bob Knight

• Drafted 12th overall by the New York Knicks in the 1980 NBA draft

• Averaged 4.7 points in 11.7 minutes in 81 games his rookie season

• Played 11 years in the NBA with the Knicks, Nets, Kansas City/Sacramento Kings, Clippers, Houston and Cleveland.

• Had a career average of 14.0 points per game, and a career-high of 18.2 with Kansas City in the 1982-83 season.

• Assistant coach with Milwaukee (1996-99), Cleveland (1999-2001), Philadelphia (2001-03) and Detroit (2003-04)

• Helped guide the Detroit Pistons' defense that won the 2004 NBA Championship.

• Served six seasons as the Atlanta Hawks' head coach with a record of 206-286 (.419 percent), with three straight playoff appearances.

• Hired by the Knicks as an assistant August 29, 2011.
