GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- After Wednesday's practice at the Knicks' training facility, Mike Woodson said Jared Jeffries was feeling better and would likely be able to play more minutes in Game 3.
"Yes he can," Woodson said.
Since Game 2 in Miami on Monday night, Jeffries has had two and a half days to rest his sore right knee, which has been causing him problems for about the last month.
Before the Heat series started, Woodson said Jeffries could play no more than 15 minutes per game, but in Games 1 and 2, the backup center wasn't on the court for more than seven.
Jeffries will help Tyson Chandler shore up the Knicks' interior defense, and close up the holes the Heat, especially LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, have been able to expose. When the Knicks faced the Heat on April 15, Chandler and Jeffries helped force James and Wade into six turnovers each, including a couple of offensive fouls in the paint. Hopefully the duo can draw some of those charges again tonight.
