NEW YORK – New York will have its regular starting five Sunday for Game 4.
With Amare Stoudemire back in the lineup, the Knicks first unit will be Tyson Chandler, Stoudemire, Carmelo Anthony in the frontcourt. Baron Davis and Landry Fields will start in the backcourt.
When Stoudemire’s status was in doubt, there was speculation that J.R. Smith would start ahead of Steve Novak, who replaced Stoudemire in Game 3. Using Smith in the second unit might benefit Novak, who went 0-for-2 in 22 minutes in his first postseason start and has struggled to find an open shot all series. Smith has said that it is his job to get Novak open shots.
“I think I have to do a better job of finding my teammates, getting Steve acclimated in the game. He hasn’t really been awake this whole series. Whenever I get the ball I’m looking for him, looking for him, but I mean, he’s a sharpshooter, so we knew they were going to key on him but we have to keep him active and keep him in the game.”
