For the first time, the NBA is teaming up with a foreign production company to release a major film overseas.
And Carmelo Anthony is one of the star players in it.
Shanghai Film Group's "Amazing" tells the story of a fictional world known as "The Sixth Sense." It uses basketball imagery to combine the visual elements of a video game with a movie, akin to the 2010 American science fiction film "Tron: Legacy."
The official announcement was made during a news conference in Shanghai over the weekend.
"For the NBA, this partnership with industry leader Shanghai Film Group represents an important first step to engage our fans in entertainment all across China," said David Shoemaker, CEO of NBA China.
Joining Anthony from the NBA are Dwight Howard and Yi Jianlian. NBA legend Scottie Pippen is also in the movie, along with "Resident Evil" star Eric Mabius.
"Amazing," which started filming three years ago, is slated for release this summer in China.
