In what has already been a turnaround season for the Knicks, another milestone will likely come tonight. Barring a voting surge by the Celtics' Kevin Garnett, Amare Stoudemire will become the first Knick since Patrick Ewing in 1992 to be named a starter for the All-Star Game. The announcement will be made on NBA on TNT's coverage before the Knicks take on the Heat. Ironically, STAT's main nemesis tonight, LeBron James, would be his All-Star frontcourt teammate.

"I think [it’s a big deal],” Stoudemire said (New York Post). "I think the fans appreciate it. It wouldn’t be possible if it wasn’t for the fans. They’re very appreciative of the hard work that we’ve put forth in New York as a team, and so I’d be honored to be a starter."

"This is a very big thing for both the franchise and the fans,” said former Knick Allan Houston, who played as a reserve in two All-Star Games (The Salt Lake Tribune). "Amare is a special player and it’s a special honor."
