GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- Carmelo Anthony had some interesting things to say to ESPN New York 98.7 FM's Dave Rothenberg about the Knicks' offense and his approach with Amare Stoudemire this season.

Anthony reiterated that he is willing to sacrifice his scoring if it helps the team win games.

"(On) a night to night basis I want (the offense) be more well-rounded," Anthony told Rothenberg.

Anthony says the Knicks need to "play within our means" on the offensive end.

Regarding his approach to scoring the ball, Anthony said he'll "see how the game is going, check the flow of the game. I just want to win basketball games. If I score 10,11 points and we win basketball games, that's my mindset right now."

Anthony has been criticized in the past for his shot selection and proclivity to operate in isolation, which can hinder ball movement. It will be interesting to see how things play out with the Knicks now that Anthony's stated intention is to sacrifice scoring for the betterment of the team.

Anthony also addressed how he plans to approach playing with Amare Stoudemire this season.

The Knicks are 31-40 with Stoudemire and Anthony in the starting lineup, including a 1-7 mark in the playoffs.

Some critics say Anthony and Stoudemire are a bad fit because Anthony likes to operate in isolation and Stoudemire thrives in up-tempo, pick-and-roll heavy schemes.

Anthony says he wants to "get Amare back to where he needs to be. Pull him under my wing and say let's do this together, let's prove to everybody that we can make it happen."
