GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- The Knicks will wrap up the preseason without a couple of rotation regulars.

Marcus Camby (calf) and J.R. Smith (Achilles) will sit out the Knicks' preseason finale against the Nets in Long Island on Wednesday. Rasheed Wallace (conditioning) also will miss the Knicks' sixth and final preseason tilt.

Mike Woodson said he plans to play his starters in the game, including Tyson Chandler and Carmelo Anthony. The coach will wait to see the Nets' starting five before he decides to put Anthony at small forward or power forward. Anthony played power forward Monday and might do so for the foreseeable future with Amare Stoudemire, the Knicks' starting power forward, out for two to three weeks with a ruptured cyst in his left knee.

"I think Melo is comfortable either way," Woodson said. "He played [power forward] last year; he played his natural [small forward] spot for many years. I don't think it's a big adjustment for him. I think his teammates have got to be willing to adjust around him as well, so it goes hand in hand."

Woodson said over the weekend that he wasn't sure whether Camby, who has been out since Oct. 6 with a calf injury, would suit up for the season opener against Brooklyn on Nov. 1.

But Camby said Tuesday "the plan is" for him to play.

Camby participated in individual shooting drills on a side court while his teammates worked in half-court sets Tuesday. He worked with his left calf in a wrap.

Smith, who missed the Knicks' past three preseason games with an Achilles/ankle injury, was out of his walking boot Tuesday and back on the practice floor. He participated in team and individual drills, including individual half-court shooting drills with a trainer.

Woodson hopes Camby, Smith and Wallace will be healthy enough to participate in the Knicks' team scrimmages expected to start Friday.

The coach said it would be nice to have more healthy players available, but he's not in "panic mode" yet.

"There's still a lot of things that's [going] to be thrown at these guys in between those seven days [between the preseason finale and the season opener]," Woodson said. "We'd kind of like to have some healthy bodies out there on the floor, ready to go."
