Knicks waive Chris Smith

The Knicks announced on Friday evening that Chris Smith, the younger brother of J.R. Smith, was waived by the team.

The point guard had not played in any preseason games because he had surgery Oct. 11 to repair his left patella tendon.

The Knicks' roster now stands at 19 players. The deadline to cut training camp invites is Oct. 29, and it's likely those players will include Mychel Thompson, John Shurna, Henry Sims and Oscar Bellfield.

As for the final two guaranteed roster spots, it appears that Chris Copeland and Rasheed Wallace will lock those up.
