The Knicks are not practicing on Monday due to Hurricane Sandy.

Over the night, Sandy's strengthened and stayed on a predicted path toward New York, Washington, Baltimore and Philadelphia. With the hurricane's potential danger to as many as 50 million people for days, Carmelo Anthony is not taking it lightly.

"I don't take nothing for granted. I'm scared of Sandy," he said after Sunday's practice at the Garden. "Just the thought of New York having a hurricane, that doesn't even sound right. Me personally, I'm not playing with this weather. I'm not one to play with Mother Nature and I'm scared of Sandy."

There is no word yet from the team on Tuesday's activities. The storm is expected to make landfall late Monday night, so a decision would likely come tomorrow morning.

The Knicks are trying to get three injured players back in time for Thursday's season opener against the Nets, so the next few days of practice are pivotal.

Tyson Chandler is battling back from a bone bruise in his left knee and had hoped to scrimmage on Monday; Rasheed Wallace is still looking to improve his conditioning so he can take the floor against Brooklyn; and Marcus Camby is just returning from a left calf strain, which sidelined him for about three weeks.

Camby said he hoped to be re-evaluated after Monday's practice and then take contact for the first time since his return the following day. His status for Tuesday is now unclear.
