Can't spell "team" without Turiaf

Newly-acquired Knick Ronny Turiaf seems to be emerging as a team leader, according to SLAM Online. He's already gone on vacation with Danilo Gallinari and worked out with Amar'e and Toney Douglas. Turiaf told the site guys need to make the necessary sacrifices to win basketball games. "That’s something that people need to understand is that we will do whatever it takes, whatever we have to do to make that happen," Turiaf said. "I have talked to plenty of guys on the team already."

Amar’e Stoudemire posted some video of his trip to Israel on his Twitter account.

• Amar'e, along with Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo and former Knick Renaldo Balkman, were spotted by an ESPNNewYork.com NBA blogger at SLAM magazine's Team USA party at NYC's Slate lounge on Saturday night. Amar'e spent most of the night dancing on a couch in a tank top until the wee hours. Balkman, who was just chilling out, scored eight points the next day in Puerto Rico's win over China, 92-76, in the finale of the World Basketball Festival at MSG.

Walt Frazier says he was devastated by LeBron James' decision not to join the Knicks, and thinks the pressure got to him.

• Would LeBron have come to the Knicks if Isiah Thomas had been at the helm? James Dolan seems to think so, which gets us thinking: Has Thomas put Dolan under a spell? We may never know. New York Times reporter Howard Beck noted the last time the Knicks owner spoke at length about the team was more than three years ago, choosing to "avoid accountability to fans and season-ticket holders."

• Donnie Walsh's contract is up on March 31, 2011. Thomas sure sounds like the front-runner to replace him, but don't forget about Jerry West. He has indicated he wants to run a franchise again.

Stephon Marbury wants to own a team and open sneaker stores in China. "The NBA has deals to build arenas in China,'' Marbury said. "Owning and investing there, how can I go wrong business-wise?'' Marbury is currently training in Los Angeles to prepare for the Chinese season in December (he will play for the Shanxi Club).

• Add NYC native and Entourage star Jerry Ferrara (a.k.a. Turtle) to the list of disgruntled Knicks fans. He let Miami Heat forward Chris Bosh have it during a scene on Sunday's show (Bosh was making a cameo appearance). Bosh tells Turtle his "girl likes vodka" to which Turtle says, "Trust me, an Avion margarita will change your life, like playing for the Knicks would have."
