Amar'e Stoudemire made his season debut with 3:31 remaining in the first quarter with the Knicks down 23-20. When the power forward replaced Tyson Chandler, the Garden crowd gave him a loud, standing ovation.
On his first move, Stoudemire drove down the baseline, but he was called for out of bounds. He finished the opening period 0-2 from the field, missing a midrange jumpshot off a screen and a jump hook out of the post. However, they were two solid looks, and he looked aggressive with his offensive moves.
Defensively, Stoudemire obviously needs some time to get back into rhythm. LaMarcus Aldridge and J.J. Hickson scored on him with ease. Mike Woodson said before the game that he's not worried about Stoudemire's offense. It's his defense he's most concerned about.
