Every weekday throughout the season, ESPNNewYork.com will tackle a burning question about the Knicks in our "Opening Tip" segment.
Today's Burning Question: After their embarrassing performance against the Pacers, should the Knicks make a trade to shake things up in advance of Thursday's 3 p.m. deadline?
Mike Woodson has said countless times in the last few days that he sees no reason to make a trade -- but you wonder if what happened Wednesday night did anything to change his mind.
The Knicks were crushed in Indiana to open the second half of the season. They lost by 34 to the Pacers and were never competitive in the game.
After watching the team fail to compete for 48 minutes on Wednesday, it's worth wondering if the Knicks need to make a move -- any move -- to shake things up. They've lost four of five and three straight and are just one game ahead of Brooklyn in the Atlantic.
Before the game, Woodson said he was confident that his team, if healthy, could compete with any squad in the East.
"If we're healthy, we have an opportunity to beat Miami or anybody in the East. I think we can beat anybody in this league if we come ready physically and mentally to play," Woodson told reporters in Indiana after the team's morning shootaround.
The Knicks clearly weren't mentally ready to play Thursday. Could bringing in a Jared Dudley or a J.J. Redick -- two players rumored to have been discussed in deals for Iman Shumpert -- change that? What about bringing in Jermaine O'Neal?
Is it time to make a change?
QUESTION: What do you think? After Wednesday's loss, do the Knicks need to make a deal to shake things up?
