With Pablo Prigioni nursing a sprained right ankle, Mike Woodson will add Chris Copeland to the starting five, moving Raymond Felton and Iman Shumpert to the two guard spots.

It will be Copeland's first career playoff start.

"I think he's earned that right," Woodson said. "James White has played well for us when he's been in, too. He started a few games this year for us as well, but I elected to go with Chris. He gives me something a little different than James did from an offensive standpoint."

That's for sure. Copeland scored in double figures over the last seven games of the regular season, including back-to-back 30-point performances -- the first Knicks rookie in 33 years (since Bill Cartwright) to accomplish that feat.

In Game 1, Copeland will face off against Jeff Green, and Shumpert will guard Paul Pierce. With the Celtics going with a bigger lineup with no Rajon Rondo (right ACL tear), those matchups will be key for both teams.

Regarding other personnel, Woodson said Tyson Chandler will start at center and Kenyon Martin will be the first big man off the bench. Woodson said Marcus Camby will be available in the first-round series.

"He'll dress today," he said. "I don't know if I'll play him, but we'll see."

So any nerves for Woodson heading into Game 1? He knows what he's getting into.

"No, those days are long gone," he said. "It's a different season, different style of play that lets you get after it a little bit. Nobody wants to go home; that's the beauty about playing playoff basketball. ... I'm excited about having an opportunity to play in the playoffs."
