During his appearance on George Lopez's talk show, Carmelo Anthony insisted he is a Nugget. But between now and February, that could change. According to multiple sources, Denver will now listen to trade pitches for their superstar after previously disregarding them (ESPN.com). One rival GM said, "I'm not sure how soon, but I do think they're going to trade him." Another source confirmed, "There's no doubt they are working on it. Eventually they're going to pull the trigger." While there's no frontrunner yet to land Melo, it's clear that his desire has been to play for a big-market team like the Knicks. In addition to New York, the Nets, Kings, Rockets and Timberwolves have all come up as possible trade suitors. The latest? The Golden State Warriors. Monta Ellis would be the Nuggets' targeted acquisition, but right now the team is not looking to give him up (FanHouse.com).

Knicks notes:
  • During the 1996-97 season, John Starks was the Knicks' lucky sixth and went on to win the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year award. Now, Starks has another lucky six -- his golf handicap (WFAN's "Boomer & Carton"). Today he is hosting his 15th Anniversary John Starks Celebrity Golf Classic in Greenwich, Connecticut, to support his high school scholarship foundation.
  • Not only can Wilson Chandler and Patrick Ewing Jr. shed some defense on the court, they can shed some hair. Yesterday they were guest barbers for Knicks fans at The Shop in the Bronx, where they were taking part in a charity initiative hosted by TheKnicksBlog.com's Anthony Donahue. The event raised donations for Donahue's sister, Gianna, who has brain cancer, and for the Garden of Dreams foundation.
