When it rains, it pours for J.R. Smith.
New York Knicks
The NBA on Friday announced that Smith, who is mired in an extended shooting slump, was fined $5,000 for committing a flop during Game 1 of the Knicks-Pacers series.
Smith was guarding Indiana's Lance Stephenson when he ran into a screen set by David West. Smith took contact from West and threw his arms up, exaggerating the impact of the screen. Referees ruled it an offensive foul on West and gave the Knicks the ball.
The NBA instituted an anti-flopping policy this season to curb players from committing "any physical acts that appears to have been intended to cause the referees to call a foul on another player."
