Source: Unlikely Knicks sign Duhon

8/7/2013

Amid reports of interest between the Knicks and Chris Duhon, a source with knowledge of the team's thinking says it is highly unlikely that the team signs him.

Duhon, a nine-year veteran who played two seasons with the Knicks (2008-09, 09-10), was waived by the Lakers in late June.

In 46 games (nine starts) last season with the Lakers, Duhon averaged 2.9 points, 1.5 rebounds and 2.9 assists in 17.8 minutes, while recording three double-figure scoring games, 10-plus assists twice and one double-double.

Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reported that the Knicks and Sixers had shown interest in Duhon. Though, a source told ESPNNewYork.com that Duhon's return to the Knicks is a long shot.

The Knicks have 13 players under contract and are in the market for a third point guard. Free agent veteran Beno Udrih is their top priority. Several league sources say they are unlikely to make a move until they hear from Udrih, who would need to accept a big pay cut to accept the Knicks' veteran-minimum offer.

KNICKS WORKOUT BROWN, HUDSON: The Knicks worked out several free agents Wednesday at their practice facility in Greenburgh, including point guard Bobby Brown, according to sources.

The Knicks showed interest in Brown earlier in the summer, working out the former EuroLeague standout in Las Vegas.

Brown has signed a contract with the Dongguan Leopards in China, according to ESPN.com's Marc Stein. The deal has an out clause that would allow Brown to sign with an NBA team before Aug. 15. If not, he will be playing in China in 2013-14.

The Knicks also worked out Lester Hudson, a former NBA player who had a strong season in China last year. Big men D.J. White and Sean May also worked out on Wednesday.

PRESEASON SLATE: The Knicks haven't announced their seven-game preseason schedule yet, but according to the Wizards, the Knicks will play a preseason game against Washington in Baltimore at Baltimore Arena on Oct. 17. Knicks star Carmelo Anthony was raised in Baltimore.

The Celtics also announced that they'd play games against the Knicks on October 9th in Providence, R.I. and October 12 in Manchester, N.H.
