NEW YORK -- The Knicks have signed center Cole Aldrich to bolster their frontcourt.
Aldrich, a 6-foot-11, 245-pound big man, will compete for a roster spot in training camp.
The Knicks hope Aldrich can fill the void at backup center that was left when they traded Marcus Camby in the Andrea Bargnani deal. The team inked Aldrich on Tuesday after having him in for workouts on multiple days in recent weeks. According to a source, Aldrich's deal is non-guaranteed.
With Aldrich in the mix, the Knicks have signed or agreed to sign 19 players. They can add one more player for training camp if they so choose. Teams can carry a max of 15 players during the regular season.
Aldrich has averaged 2.0 points and 2.3 rebounds over 7.9 minutes in 89 games over three seasons. He's shot 54 percent from the field. He was drafted 10th overall by New Orleans in 2010, but his rights were traded to Oklahoma City.
