NEW YORK -- Andrea Bargnani sat out of Sunday's scrimmage with a stiff back.
Mike Woodson said Bargnani's back stiffened up during warmup drills at the New York Knicks' annual Orange and Blue practice at Columbia University. The forward's status for Monday's preseason game is unclear at this point, though Woodson said the stiffness wasn't significant.
"After all the conditioning we were doing, he got some stiffness so we just pulled him and took him down to stretch him but he's fine," Woodson said.
Bargnani's health is key for the Knicks this season.
Elbow injuries forced Bargnani to miss 47 games last season but, prior to Sunday, his health hadn't been an issue during the preseason. Bargnani was unavailable for comment after the scrimmage but seemed to be moving around unencumbered.
The fact that Bargnani will fly with the team to Toronto is noteworthy. If Bargnani's back ailment was significant, he likely would not have flown with the team on the two-game, three-day road trip.
