If you happened to be around any New Jersey Nets fans yesterday and they seemed sour, it was probably because of something Carmelo Anthony said on his appearance on "The View." The Brooklyn-born All-Star revealed the city he had a hunch he'd be eventually playing in, and it wasn't New York.

"I think it was a lot of negotiation back and forth between a lot of the teams," said Anthony, who was joined on the TV show by his wife, La La Vasquez. "With the Knicks, it came down to the last hour before the trade deadline, and it happened. Me personally, I thought I was going to end up in New Jersey."

It was only fitting that Melo returned to his roots so he could get the finest first-game introduction he so well deserved, after months of Knicks fans wagging their tails hoping he'd arrive. It all went down on Wednesday, February 23, against the Milwaukee Bucks.

"I was playing off of like four hours of sleep," Anthony said. "A plane ride from LA, getting in at four, five in the morning, not getting any sleep, then having to do a press conference and then play. So all that adrenaline was very high and then the game to run out there in that tunnel and to hear that song, 'I’m coming home,' it was incredible."

Vasquez reflected on that first evening at Madison Square Garden, as her husband wore blue and orange for the first time. "That was awesome, that was amazing; the game was so fun," Vasquez said. "It was funny because I wore these Christian Louboutin shoes that actually got more attention than the game itself. They thought they were custom-made, but they weren’t. But it was just funny. Everybody was talking about the shoes the next day. I’m like, 'Well, he did have a good game, you know.'"

"MeLa" has been busy making the rounds since the season ended last week. Before appearing on "The View," he attended the Time 100 gala last week in New York City, honoring the 100 most influential people of the year, and the White House Correspondents' Dinner this past weekend in Washington, D.C.
